What is a Los Angeles California Relocation Permit Bond?
This bond is a requirement that every relocation permit (also known as House Mover’s Permit) applicant must submit to “move any building or structure, or any portion thereof, over, upon, along, or across any street”.
This requirement must be furnished to the Department of Building and Safety along with a completed application form, filing fee, proposed time of the move, type of building construction, and the street where it will be moved, among others.
This bond will guarantee the compliance of the permittee to Section 62.83.1 of the Los Angeles Municipal Code as well as to other relevant ordinances, statutes, rules, regulations, and conditions that govern the permit.
The relocation permit will be issued by the Board of Public Works of the House Mover's Permit of the City of Los Angeles once the requirement has been satisfied.
How does a Los Angeles California Relocation Permit Bond work?
This bond will be an agreement between these parties:
- Principal – relocation permit applicant
- Obligee – the City of Los Angeles
- Surety – surety bond provider
The Principal is the party who is obligated to fulfill the contractual requirements of this agreement. The Obligee is the party who is requiring this surety bond and the party who will be indemnified if the Principal defaults on the obligation.
The Surety is the party that will guarantee the compliance of the Principal. If the Principal fails to perform the bonded obligations, the Surety will be liable along with the Principal under the terms of the bond.
When a default occurs, the Obligee will file a claim. It is the primary responsibility of the Principal to settle the claim. If the Principal fails to do this, the Surety will step in and pay the Obligee. The Principal must then reimburse the Surety for the payments made.
How much does a Los Angeles California Relocation Permit Bond cost?
The bond cost is 1% of the bond amount. The bond amount is $10,000.
