Torrance Jail

Torrance Jail is operated by the Torrance Police Department. The Torrance Police Department’s main responsibility is to provide efficient policing services in order to keep the community safe.

In fact, their goal is to “preserve public safety and quality of life within the City of Torrance, to respond effectively to the changing needs of the community, and to promote mutual respect between the Police Department and the people we serve”.

There are 227 sworn police officers and 128 civilian staff employed by Torrance Police Department. The department’s structure is composed of the Administrative, Patrol, Special Operations, and Services Bureaus. Each one is helmed by a captain.

Torrance Police Department leverages technology for the greater good within the department as well the community. It has state-of-the-art technology that is available to the police officers. One of which is the Spillman’s Voiceless Dispatch.

It allows the police officers to see the call details on their laptops being entered by the dispatcher. The police officer can immediately go to the scene even before the call has been completed.

Torrance Jail offers a Pay-to-Stay Program. The program allows convicted persons to serve time in this city jail instead of a county jail.

Aside from paying a daily fee, Pay-to-Stay Program inmates are required to do minimal chores for up to 4 hours per day. Those who refuse to participate in doing the daily chores will be removed from the program.

Do I need to pay the full bond premium in cash?

No. Paying the bond premium in cash is not the only payment option we offer. We understand the financial constraints of coming up with the full bail amount that’s why we have several convenient payment options that you can choose from.

You can pay the bond premium (usually 10% of the bail amount) through any of these methods, or a combination of them:

  • Visa
  • Personal Checks (restrictions apply)
  • American Express
  • Cash
  • Deposit cash at any Bank of America branch
  • MasterCard
  • Wire Transfer of Funds
  • Money Orders

For example, if the bail amount is set at $30,000, your bond premium or the amount that you have to pay the bail bond company will be $3,000.
