Just like many detention facilities within the Los Angeles County, Sierra Madre Jail hold persons who have allegedly committed an offense. These includes disturbers of public order and DUI suspects.

This temporary holding facility has a pre-booking room with a Breathalyzer and a single jail cell with 4 bunk beds and a sink/toilet combination. There is one trained staff that is assigned to manage the jail whenever there are detainees.

The period in which inmates are allowed to stay inside Sierra Madre Jail is less than other jails within the Los Angeles County. The inmates can only be detained here for up to 24 hours or less. Minors, however, cannot be detained for more than 6 hours.

After the given period, they will be moved to Los Angeles County Jail, Pasadena Jail, a medical facility, or attend their arraignment. Prior to being moved, all detainees will be booked. The arrestee will be placed inside the pre-booking cell while the police officer collects information in order to determine the arrestee’s identity.

Fingerprinting is part of booking. This will be done using Sierra Madre Jail’s Live Scan. The arrestees will also be photographed and assessed for any health problems.

If a bail bondsman has posted bail on behalf of the arrestee, the arrestee will only be released once he or she has been booked.

Can you post bail even at night?
