San Fernando Jail

San Fernando Jail is a small, on-site correctional facility of the San Fernando Police Department. The jail is located in one of the cities within the San Fernando Valley.

The persons being detained in San Fernando Jail are pending trial, about to be transferred to another county jail, or waiting to be released by posting bail.

Upon arrival, the arrestee will go through a process called “booking”. Booking involves a series of steps in order to identify the arrestee.

Among these are fingerprinting, photographing the arrestee (also known as mug shot), recording the personal information of the arrestee into the jail system, checking the arrestee’s medical condition, and cataloguing the arrestee’s personal belongings.

If a bail is posted, the arrestee will only be release after he or she has been booked.

Various services are provided or made available to the City of San Fernando and its neighboring areas by the San Fernando Police Department.

The Patrol Division, for one, is responsible for neighborhood watch and parking enforcement among others. The Special Response Team and jailers are also under this division.

The Support Services Division, on the other hand, performs the fingerprinting done to those who have been arrested as well as the implementation of the Court Commitment Program.

And lastly, the Detective Division conducts surveillance, collection of additional evidence, serving of search warrants, filing of criminal cases, and releasing of impounded vehicles.
