Redondo Beach Jail

Redondo Beach Jail is operated by the Redondo Beach Police Department. Any person who has been arrested and charged within the city will be held in Redondo Beach Jail.

The person who has been arrested will only be released from jail on bail after undergoing a booking process.

Because overcrowding can be a problem for this city jail, the booking process here is shorter – approximately 45 minutes.

However, this will still depend on several circumstances. Booking may take longer if the jail is busy or if there are a number of arrestees who are being booked at that particular moment.

The booking process will also take longer due to the delay in the return of fingerprint identification and the unwillingness of the arrestee to cooperate during booking.

As required by law, the arrestee will be given time to call a family member, his attorney, or a bail bondsman.

If eligible for bail, the bail bondsman will be able to post bail for the defendant by following the uniform bail schedule.

There is a bail schedule for misdemeanor and a separate bail schedule for felony. The bail amount will depend on the offense the defendant is being charged with.

When a defendant is being charged with two or more offenses, the bail amount will be computed based on the highest bail plus other enhancements.

Family members are allowed to visit their incarcerated loved ones at Redondo Beach Jail. This will, however, depend on the availability of a jailer.

Visiting hours are as follows:

10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Visitors must be 18 years of age. Minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. All visitors must bring a valid government photo ID.

What will happen if bail is not immediately posted?

Defendants who were not able to post bail will be held at Redondo Beach Jail for 24 up to 72 hours for their arraignment or their first court appearance.

A defendant will usually appear in Southwest District Torrance Superior Court a day after his arrest. Those who are being charged with felony will usually go to court two days after the arrest.

After the arraignment, the defendant will be sent to larger county jails such as the Los Angeles County Jail (adult male inmates) and the Century Regional Detention Facility (adult female inmates).

Since these county jails are busier, it will take longer for the defendant to be released.

We recommend that you call us immediately before your loved one is transferred to a bigger county jail.
