What is a bail bond?

It’s a monetary deposit submitted to the court to guarantee the defendant’s temporary release from the Newport Beach Jail. The defendant must attend all court appearances once he/she is released from jail as a condition of his/her release.

There are two types of bail bonds: Civil bail bonds and criminal bail bonds.

Civil bail bonds are required during civil lawsuits. The bail bondsman will post bail for the defendant who is under civil arrest. This type of bond will be used to ensure that the defendant’s debt is paid.

Criminal bail bonds, on the other hand, are required during criminal cases. A criminal bail bond can be used to pay other court fees if the defendant fails to appear in court, in addition to securing the defendant’s appearance when summoned by the court.

How much is a bond premium?

This is determined on a case-by-case basis. The exact amount will be determined by a number of factors. Bond premiums will usually be 10% of the bail amount. Contact us to get a free tailored quote.
