Maywood Jail

Maywood Jail is a small, temporary holding facility inside Maywood Police Station. In July 1, 2010, Maywood Police Station has contracted its policing services to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, specifically East Los Angeles Sheriff’s Station, after 86 years.

The 60 members of the Maywood Police Station were disbanded due to more than $400,000 deficit in the general fund budget.

Since 2010, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is responsible for Maywood Jail, the people who are detained there, and the jail staff.

Detainees inside Maywood Jail are waiting to be bailed out, awaiting arraignment, or about to be bused out to a different county jail.

If there’s too much arrestees brought to Maywood Jail, the arrestees will immediately be transferred to larger county jails such as Men’s Central Jail, Twin Tower’s Correctional Facility, or Lynwood Jail to avoid overcrowding.

Maywood Jail permits long-term stay for eligible inmates. These are classified as inmate workers. These sentenced inmates can serve their time at Maywood Jail.

They will be assigned various tasks that they must complete for a minimum of four hours each day, five days a week.
