MARINA DEL REY JAIL
Marina del Rey Jail is managed by the Marina del Rey Station. The said police station services the 3 unincorporated areas of the Los Angeles County starting with The Marina – known as the “west end”.
Aside from providing policing services on land, Marina del Ray Station is also responsible for the harbor as well as Santa Monica Bay. The Harbor Patrol continuously safeguards the water and the docks using six patrol boats.
Marina del Rey is home to approximately 6,500 boats – 15% of which are “liveaboards” or boats that are used as main residences. The Harbor Patrol of the Marina del Rey Station partners with the US Coast Guard, Los Angeles County Lifeguard Baywatch units, and the Los Angeles County Fire Department in ensuring the safety of the areas they cater to.
In addition, they patrol the “east-end” or the communities of Windsor Hills, View Park, and Ladera Heights.
Marina del Ray Station also has a bike patrol called Summer Enforcement Team (SET). SET consists of 6 deputies and a sergeant. During the summer months, 2 Harbor Patrol deputies joins the team to check the boating traffic for safety and local ordinance violation.
Apprehended violators within the area will be taken to Marina del Rey Jail where they will be booked immediately upon arrival.
If the defendant is granted bail, the posting will be done after the person has been booked.
If a bail is not posted, the defendant will wait for his or her arraignment in this jail or will be transferred to a different county jail.
