Lancaster Jail

Lancaster Jail is the city jail of the substation of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department: Lancaster Station.

Those who have been arrested in Lancaster, California and its surrounding areas like Palmdale will be detained at Lancaster Jail, but only for a short period of time. Usually, arrestees will stay for a couple of hours if bailed out quickly. Those who fail to post bail will stay at Lancaster Jail until their arraignment.

If the jail becomes overcrowded, they will be transferred to larger county jails like Lynwood Jail or Men’s Central Jail immediately.

Some confuse Lancaster Jail with the California State Prison – which is also located in Lancaster, California.

The former is managed by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department while the latter is being handled by the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. The latter is also where adult males who have already been convicted of crimes serve their sentences.

Family members can visit their loved ones who are incarcerated at Lancaster Jail 7 days a week. Even though there are two time slots allotted for family members who are visiting, only the first 8 visitors will be allowed to enter. In order to guarantee entrance to the facility, it is best to go to Lancaster Jail at the earliest time possible.

Visiting hours:

9 am – 11 am
6 pm – 8 pm

What is a bond premium? Will I get it back?

A bond premium is the compensation given to the bail bondsman for providing bail bond as bail. In other words, it is the fee for using the bail bondsman’s services.

When a defendant or the defendant’s family member has paid the bond premium, the bail bondsman will post bail at Lancaster Jail. The defendant will then be released after he or she has undergone a booking process.

The bond premium is nonrefundable.
