ABOUT INGLEWOOD JAIL

During the time of Inglewood Police Department’s longest reigning Chief, Carl Cupp, Inglewood Jail had 29 beds and an underground tunnel that leads to the courthouse lock-up.

The city in which this jail is in was one of the 1992 Los Angeles Riot-hit areas. The riot, which erupted at the intersection of Florence and Normandie due to the acquittal of the 4 LAPD officers involved in the beating of Rodney King, stretched down to the streets of Inglewood, California.

Today, Inglewood Jail is still under the management of the Inglewood Police Department, specifically, the Administrative Services Bureau.

Inglewood Jail employs a jail supervisor who is responsible for training and monitoring the staff who in turn takes care of the detainees. The jail supervisor receives, identifies, processes, and monitors inmates as well.

When a person is arrested within Inglewood, the said person will be processed and booked at Inglewood Jail. The booking period can take as little as an hour.

It is important to call us immediately if your loved one has been arrested and brought to Inglewood Jail. We can post bail and get the defendant out immediately after he or she has been booked.

What happens after the bail is posted?

Once our licensed bail agent has posted bail, the defendant will be released from custody.

The defendant’s responsibility doesn’t end there. As part of the bail bond’s condition, the defendant has to come back to court for his future trials including his arraignment. Arraignment is the time when the defendant will first appear in court.

It is during this time when the defendant is formally informed by the judge of the charges being made against him. The defendant will then respond with his plea – guilty, not guilty, or no contest.

If the defendant skips bail or fails to appear in court, the bail bondsman will have 180 days to locate the defendant before a judge forfeits the bail and render judgment on the defendant.
