HERMOSA BEACH JAIL

Arrestees that come into the care of the Hermosa Beach Police Department are brought to Hermosa Beach Jail where their rights are strictly observed. One of which is the right to post bail.

If the arrestee is afforded that right, he or she may do so after the booking process. Hermosa Beach Jail is a relatively small confinement facility with only 8 cells. The maximum capacity for this particular jail is approximately 23 inmates.

Just like some of the jails within the Los Angeles County, Hermosa Beach Jail offers a Pay-to-Stay Program. Upon the approval of the sentencing magistrate, the defendant can serve time in this facility for a fee rather than being detained in a Los Angeles County Jail.

Certain conditions must be met before the request is approved. Here are some of them:

  • They must have a Court Commitment Order stating the length of time they will be held at Hermosa Beach Jail.
  • Prior to the defendant’s arrival, the fee must be paid.
  • A recent negative Tuberculosis screening test result must be provided by the defendant.

Why is a bail bond commonly preferred than the rest?

Because a bail bond is the quickest, simplest, and most cost-effective way out of jail.

There’s no need to put up the full amount of the bail, as is the case with a Cash Bond. For example, if the bail amount is set at $30,000, the defendant must provide the entire amount as bail if he or she opts for a Cash Bond.

After the case is resolved, the entire sum will be returned to the defendant. Even once the case is over, getting the money back can take months.

A Property Bond is another option. The court will place a lien on the defendant’s real estate, which must be worth double the amount of the bail to be approved. This is the most difficult and time-consuming option. It normally necessitates multiple court appearances as well as legal aid.

A bail bondsman is someone who pays the defendant’s bail on his or her behalf. The defendant will only have to pay the bail bondsman a bond premium of 10% of the bail amount.
