Glendale City Jail

Being a Type 1 Jail Facility, Glendale City Jail is authorized to house people for up to 96 hours after they have been booked, excluding holidays as stated in the California Board of State and Community Corrections. Glendale City Jail holds persons on court order, inmate workers, and ICE detainees.

The 32,000-square-foot building has 48 cells and 98 beds. It is considered as the busiest jail in Los Angeles County. In fact, up to 700 persons are booked in Glendale City Jail every month.

One of its famous inmates is Kiefer Sutherland. He was incarcerated in Glendale City Jail for 48 hours due to DUI charges back in 2007.

Glendale City Jail has a Pay-to-Stay Program where defendants can opt to serve time for a daily fee.

Aside from allowing in-person visits, they offer a remote inmate visitation service as well. Family and friends of the inmates can virtually visit them from the comfort of their own homes through legacyinmate.com.

What happens if I don’t post bail immediately?

Given the size of Glendale City Jail and the amount of arrestees being booked, the booking process here is expedited in order to prevent the jail from being overcrowded.

Once a bail-eligible defendant is booked and has failed to post bail at Glendale City Jail, he or she will immediately be transferred to a larger county jail like Men’s Central Jail or Twin Towers Correctional Facility. Since these county jails are busier, it will take longer for the defendant to be released.

We recommend that you call us immediately before your loved one is transferred to a bigger county jail.
