EL SEGUNDO JAIL

El Segundo Jail is the short-term facility of the El Segundo Police Department. The jail houses pre-trial detainees that have been arrested within the city.

The arrestees will be booked once they have reached this city jail. Booking is the process of identifying the arrestees by taking their fingerprints and photographs among others. These will be counterchecked with the county, state, and federal agencies.

If the arrestee has been granted bail, he or she may be bailed out once he or she have been booked. If the arrestee is not bailed out quickly, the said person will stay in El Segundo Jail until arraignment. If the jail is overcrowded, the arrestee will be quickly transferred to other county jails such as Twin Tower’s Correctional Facility or the Metropolitan Detention Center.

The El Segundo Police Department opened in 1923. During the same year, John D. Rockefeller’s Standard Oil Company had a plant built in El Segundo with a budget of more than $10 million. It was one of the biggest plants in the world during that time.

In 1948, the El Segundo Police Department were outfitted with a few technological advancements including a two-way radio. El Segundo Police Department conducts policing services into two separate geographical areas within the city.

One is the West Command and the other is the East Command. Each one is managed by a designated Patrol Lieutenant.

How much will it cost?
