MONTE JAIL

The El Monte Police Department’s goal is to provide a safe and well-maintained facility for those incarcerated. El Monte Police Department adheres to the state and federal regulations when it comes to maintaining order within El Monte Jail.

El Monte Jail holds sentenced misdemeanants, inmates awaiting transfer, pretrial detainees who weren’t granted bail, and pretrial detainees who are awaiting bail.

El Monte Jail is equipped with ultramodern instruments that can easily identify detainees. Releasing those who have been charged with misdemeanor is done in a streamlined and fast manner here. As long as the defendant has legally met all the necessary requirements, the misdemeanant will be released from El Monte Jail immediately.

When a bail bond is posted, the misdemeanant is released after he or she has been booked. During booking, an officer will create an official arrest record that will be entered into the jail system. The defendant’s fingerprints and photograph will be taken; personal information taken; belongings itemized and seized.

If bail is not posted, the defendant will be transferred to a larger county jail. We can still provide assistance when this happens, but the process will be much longer than if the defendant is bailed out from El Monte Jail.
