COVINA JAIL

The Covina Police Department maintains the Covina Jail – a small, temporary holding facility that is staffed by non-sworn jailers. The jailers supervises the visitation of inmates and how the meal for each inmate is prepared.

Covina Jail can detain a defendant for not more than 76 hours after the individual has undergone a booking process.

The booking process involves taking the arrestee’s mug shot; recording the name of the arrestee and other important information; live scan fingerprinting; and medical screening among others. Every year, Covina Jail books about 3,700 arrestees.

If the defendant was able to post bail after he or she has been booked, the defendant will be released from Covina Jail.

Otherwise, the defendant will have to wait for the arraignment inside Covina Jail or to the Los Angeles County Jail.

You can visit an inmate in Covina Jail as long as they have been detained for more than 24 hours already.

Visiting hours are from 1:00 to 4:00 PM every day. You can visit an inmate once per day with a duration of 15 minutes per visit.

Those who are intending to visit must follow the Visitation Rule and Regulations set forth by Covina Jail. Here are a few of them:

  • Present a valid government ID
  • Covina Jail can accommodate two visitors at a time
  • Giving money, food, or other items to the inmate is not allowed
